It was nice to move well outside the tech sphere to provide two show reports for veteran Springsteen site Backstreets. As a huge Springsteen fan myself, it’s far from objective but it was a great show – Springsteen is one of the last great bandleaders.
Article here (go to 2013 setlists and look for the March 18th and 20th 2013 shows in Sydney)
Also lots of editing and writing over at The Oceanic Gamer – it’s a great team I have over there now and if you’re into MMOs at all it’s worth a look.
Pleased to do a third piece for Bleeding Cool, this time a review of an independent local comic release.
I’ve been slack submitting stuff to the ABC, so I’m glad to break the drought with a piece on MMOs and how the dollar can work against innovation.

You can read it right here - was nice to be able to profile some local talent and hopefully will be able to do some more in the future as well. If you’re an Aussie or NZ comic creator and would like your work reviewed, I’m always happy to hear from you.
Had a great weekend in Melbourne – covered the inaugural Oz Comic-Con for the very influential comics website Bleeding Cool. The Convention itself turned out to have some organisational issues but I’m hopeful they’ll do better second time around. I’ll be writing a follow-up piece for Bleeding Cool on the handful of Aussie publishers/writers/artists/podcasters I managed to meet.
It’s great to be writing about an area I’ve loved since childhood and hopefully I’ll be doing some more in this area.
Nice to do another piece for AMW and a larger one to boot. It’s a 3000-word feature on music-related apps for iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch. It’ll be appearing in the February 2012 print issue and I’m assuming online sometime after.
A longer piece for the ABC, doing a review of the upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, based on my experiences in beta testing. If you’re a Star Wars geek, it’s a game that you’ll enjoy a lot. It’s also a game that’s taken up a lot of my writing time as I run my own site devoted to the game.
Another enjoyable piece for the ABC, this time on the upcoming Star Wars MMO. Have a look for yourself.
I’m enjoying my regular monthly commission for ABC Technology as it allows me to showcase virtual worlds goings on that normally wouldn’t get much exposure outside of the industry. This month it’s a piece on Sydney’s Leonie Smith and her avatar Paisley Beebe’s popular virtual TV show.
