Australian Macworld and dense discussion papers

March 3, 2010 by David Leave a Comment

It’s been a more leisurely few months as far as commissioned pieces go but I’ve been writing more than ever. Unfortunately Australian Macworld don’t put anything published in the magazine online until a number of months later, but I’ve had some pieces published there including a review of the latest Logic Studio and some opining on the highlights of the past 25 years in Mac land as Australian Macworld have just reached that milestone.

For the terminally bored, you can always read my discussion paper on the policy agenda-setting challenges for virtual worlds over at my pride and joy, The Metaverse Journal.

Crikey: business and virtual worlds

April 14, 2009 by David Leave a Comment

A piece I wrote for Crikey appeared today, under the humourous title of Conroy yet to buy g-nitals in Second Life but business is booming.

You can read it in full here.

I’d also strongly recommend a Crikey daily email subscription – for a bit over $100 a year you get a daily email with some impressive stories. It’s a particular boon for politics junkies.

Robbie Bronnimann / Howard Jones

February 13, 2009 by David Leave a Comment

I spent last evening at Hornsby RSL Club, where Howard Jones was playing his second Sydney gig on his current tour. Having interviewed Howard prior to his 2007 tour, I was actually at the gig to interview Robbie Bronnimann.

That interview will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Australian Macworld, but here’s a short sample of Robbie, Howard and vocalist Laura Clapp at work:

Enjoy and thanks to Robbie Bronnimann for his time during a fairly frenetic setup and soundcheck.

Update:some superb photos of the gig taken by my colleague Graham Body can now be found here
